Last month saw the completion of the new Disabled WC & Kitchen at St John’s Church in Lemon Street, Truro.
The works involved the creation of two “pods” under the existing balconies within the nave of the Grade II listed church which was built in 1828. The pods provide modern kitchen facilities and a wheelchair accessible toilet complete with baby changing facilities for the benefit of the congregation and visitors as it would enable the rear of the church to be used for post service tea, coffee and to cater for concerts and functions. The new facilities make for more inclusive provision.
CAD utilised the experience of their in-house heritage conservation specialist, Sam Mayou (Pg Dip Arch Cons), to ensure the design of the new work respected the church’s unique character and aesthetics.
CAD worked closely with the church and the contractor to achieve completion within a tight time frame of just one month.
The Bishop of St Germans, Bishop Chris, blessed the newly completed toilets in a special Sunday Service.
