The two main colours associated with this time of year are Orange and Black:
Black
Black is associated with power, authority, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.
Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown. In heraldry, black is the symbol of grief. Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth.
It is stylish and timeless and contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme.
Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula, often wear black.

Orange
Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
It is highly accepted among young people. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite. (Great for Kitchens and Dining Rooms!)
Orange is the color of Autumn and harvest. In heraldry, orange is symbolic of strength and endurance.
Orange has very high visibility, so you can use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of your design.
Dark orange can mean deceit and distrust.
