CAD Architects : Property Features in 25 Beautiful Homes Magazine

Well, well, well yet more CAD projects were spotted in print last month!

The September edition of 25 Beautiful Homes featured not one but two of our prestigious developments in Cornwall.

The first being ‘The Boathouse’ located in St Mawes. This private dwelling is a modern cedar-clad property. With a passion for all things nautical David and Jocelyn Fawcett purchased the original old boathouse back in 2005. The renovation began with the lower walls collapsing so David & Jocelyn appointed us, CAD Architects, to mastermind a complete rebuild of the property. A lengthy planning process took place but permission was granted for a huge 6,000 square foot two tier contemporary house with large south-facing decked area and a front balcony. The views played an integral part in the overall design process of this stunning home and because the property is situated so close to the sea when the tide is high the house appears to be afloat. The Boathouse won a Cornish Buildings Group Award in 2008.

The second property featured was also right on the coast. This luxurious contemporary detached new-build was constructed on a cliff in Polzeath, North Cornwall. The plot was originally bought in 1973 and ‘The Edge’, a reverse-level family getaway, was completed in 2010. The ground was excavated to lower the roof line in order to obtain planning permission. We, CAD Architects, were at the centre of the design for this large three bedroom, three bathroom accommodation which boasts breath taking views from the lounge, dining room and kitchen as well as sea views from three of the four bedrooms. The builders commissioned for this project were local company Frost Builders Ltd based in St Austell.
